weight and tracking

one typeface can do all the ranking a page needs. size first, then weight, then color. werkstatt uses two weights per view, never more.

the goal

rank three lines of text using only weight and size.

the steps

  1. set three lines at one sizea headline, a subhead and a sentence, all at 20 px regular.
  2. change only the sizemake the headline big. it already outranks the rest.
  3. change only one weightset the headline bold. leave the others alone.
  4. tighten the big linepull the tracking of the headline in until the letters almost touch.
